The house is sold. Now on to fixing my new home. Ahh, the circle of repairs.
I finally bought a collapsible ladder at Sams club that telescopes to 17′ simiar to this one for $95. A bargan in my book. The gutters really needed some attention. Even though it’s not tall enough to reach everything, I was able to clean most of them. I had the funniest thing happen to me (well, more like embarrassing..) I just finished cleaning the first gutter. It was hard to move fully open, so I opened the latch to let it down. I thought I’d work smarter and let gravity would pull it down for me, and I would use my hand as a brake to slow it down. As some of you might know I’ve been losing weight.. yes, you guessed it.. my pants fell down right as I was lowering it; it of course this distracted me as I stood in front of my house with my pants around my ankles. The ladder fell fast right on top of my foot. No major damage, but I do have a damaged ego.
cheers!

Last weekend I tried to open the hot tub. It was as I expected – it leaked from about 7 different places, the pumps worked, but leaked and were noisy. and whenever you tried to turn the heater on, it caused the GFI to trip. Thank goodness for home warrenty
The estimate to fix it was $800; luckly it’s covered. So $50 and a week’s time we should be up and running!

A chapter of the Pressons are about to close… We close on our previous address on Friday at 3:30. The girls are stuggling with the loss of their old home, but it’s only a problem for them when we visit the house. Pamela and I also stuggle sometimes, although my stuggle is simply thinking of all the tme and effort we put into fixing the place. In any case, it’s a good chapter to end.

We went to the Chesterfield for the yearly dose of explosives. It was Chesterfield’s first display, and I have to say other than getting soaked from the downpour prior to the show, it was one of the best show’s I’ve seen in a long time. Traffic wasn’t bad at the end either, something I can’t say for a lot of other shows. It seemed to last much longer than shows I’ve seen in the past (~35 minutes.) Check it out next year if you’re ready for something new.

One thing that surprises me when I drive other people’s cars is how their side mirrors are set. 1/2 of the side view mirrors show the car you’re driving. I never understood why, I suppose folks have seen shows where kids were hanging off a parcel truck, and they want to be sure it doesn’t happen to them. I have to admit, when I adjust my mirrors, I turn them out until my own car has just disappeared from the view; which isn’t quite what this website suggests. In any case, check it out and comment what you think about it. I’d like to hear!

I recall being a kid of 5-6, and my folks wouldn’t allow us
to have fireworks. It was the 5th of July that was my favorite day of the
year – I grabbed my “briefcase” that looked like a small
suitcase and would set out for my block. I’d pick up all spent fireworks
and admire the smell. Ah!
But I had an interesting thing happen: someone driving by stopped to ask if I
was running away from home. I explained what I was doing, and they didn’t
believe me until I showed them my case full of burnt fireworks. They
laughed as the pulled away. It was then that I decided I’d stop collecting them; and started working my parents to buy the real thing. I
think that next year we got some sparklers…
This link has been around
for years, but it’s fun to make your own browser fireworks.
